Finding an Apartment

It’s not quite as easy as I had hoped it would be. I drove down to VA Beach on Thursday to find an apartment. There were lots of places that were not available until October. Very few places that are taking cats. I even called places to rent just “a room”… here is one example of how that went:

I left a message. At around 5 she called back to tell me she didn’t have long distance and could I call her back? I can do that, I’m a nice guy. The first questions out of her mouth were about my sleeping and going out habits… you can’t come in after 10:00 p.m. you’ll wake me… you have to take a shower at night, people who shower in the morning just don’t care about their hygiene…. so you have to shower at night, when you get in before 10, cause you’ll wake me otherwise as I’m a late sleeper…
After 5 minutes or so of a conversation like this… I ask about cats… she’s offended that I didn’t mention it right away… like I had a chance to talk… I’ve aparently wasted her time. I hope future phone calls go better than this one did.

I did find an apartment that is available on September 9th, one bedroom… nice area… across the street from an AA meeting.. two blocks from the grocery store… and on the bus line… seems promising if I can prove I’m employed in VA.

I’ll keep you posted.
